About me
Growing up at the Himalayan Institute, Ishan Tigunait received his earliest spiritual training from Swami Rama of the Himalayas and has spent decades immersed in the Himalayan Tradition under the guidance of his father, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait. Rooted in a living tradition, Ishan brings a unique blend of spiritual wisdom, modern insight, and visionary leadership to his work. As Executive Director of the Himalayan Institute, Ishan guides the Institute’s mission to share the authentic teachings of yoga, meditation and tantra. For over two decades, he has been a driving force behind the Institute’s humanitarian projects in Africa, and as Managing Director of Himalayan Institute India, he led the establishment of the Institute’s Khajuraho campus, a vibrant center for pilgrimage and practice. A passionate teacher, Ishan offers modern reflections on ancient yogic and tantric wisdom, making these timeless teachings accessible to contemporary seekers. As a faculty member, he is a key contributor to the Vishoka Meditation and Sri Sukta programs, as well as the Institute’s 300-hour yoga teacher training. One of his greatest joys is guiding students on transformative pilgrimages to the Himalayas and the Institute’s Khajuraho campus. Before returning to the Institute in 2006, Ishan earned a degree in computer engineering and worked at IBM. An avid social entrepreneur, he is also the co-founder of Moka Origins, a mission-driven craft chocolate and specialty coffee company that supports sustainable agriculture and tree plantation initiatives. Through his work as a teacher, leader, and social entrepreneur, Ishan is dedicated to sharing the transformative power of yoga to help individuals and communities realize their highest potential.
